My sweet boy, you are changing every minute! This month was filled with fun things. You enjoyed many firsts again...Christmas, flying to Ohio, crying over spilled milk (otherwise known as liquid gold...and momma might have been crying more than you on this one), sleeping ten hours through the night, and your very first blowout (did I mention this was during your first flight...so fun!). You have taken so well to your nighttime routine. We try very hard not to vary from it too much, but you are flexible if we do. You and mommy had such a great time in Ohio for the holidays, but daddy sure missed you! You changed so much in the four days we were gone, and daddy could hardly sleep at night without you snoring next to our bed. :) You got to see Grandma and Grandpa Gilbert again, and this time they stayed at our house to visit with you. You saw snow for the first time, both in Virginia (by way of a dusting) and in Ohio...a blizzard...that cancelled two of our flights. You were seriously a pro at the airport when our flight got cancelled and we were stuck for hours. You have become quite a flirt too, and know exactly when to turn on the charm! You got a virus at four weeks that you had to take medicine for and broke out in a terrible rash. YOU HATE MEDICINE! haha But for whatever reason, they flavored it mint and grape...so that could be the reason. You are all better now, and the rash is finally starting to subside. Mommy and daddy count their blessings every night because you are so wonderful!
Weight: 13 lbs, 8 oz
Size: You are wearing all 3 months clothes. Some of your 0-3 month sleepers still fit, but not too many. We moved you into size one diapers at the beginning of the month, and size two by the end of the month.
Sleep: Through the night, every night! You sleep at least seven hours, sometimes nine. You are still in the bassinet for the time being because you will wake up at 4:00 a.m., on schedule every time, look up at mommy with that "I know you want to feed me" look, until I give you the "I don't think so child, it's waaaaaaay too early" look right back and you fall back asleep. The pediatrician told mommy and daddy once you hit 12 pounds, you did not nutritionally need to eat in the middle of the night, that you would want it just to comfort you back to sleep. You are still napping very well throughout the day too. Basically, you love sleep.
Eating: Still breastfeeding like a pro. Mommy had to talk to the doctor about producing more milk to store for when she goes back to work. Luckily, all the tricks have been working and we have a freezer full of milk! Our nighttime routine involves Daddy giving you a 6oz. bottle, which you have no trouble finishing to the last drop (and sometimes you want more!). Also mommy noticed that when you nurse you always twirl your feet around...and then one night she saw daddy doing the same thing with his feet on the coffee table while he ate his food. You have always tickled mommy's back while nursing too, which is so sweet.
Playing: You still enjoy tummy time, but not as much as before. Your neck and shoulders are much stronger now, so you prefer to just sit up like a big boy on mommy and daddy's laps. You LOVE the "ride the horsey" game with mommy...and basically any silly song we sing to you. You haven't grabbed at your toys yet, but give them a serious beating with your fists and feet. You absolutely LOVE to be on your changing pad looking in the mirror, and could stay on there for hours if we let you.
Milestones: Grinning from ear to ear at the sight of mommy and daddy. You smile at other people too when they say your name. You love to stand on your feet and bounce. We were worried it was a little too early, but there is no stopping you from doing it! You have successfully peed out of your bathtub into the drain with perfect aim every night (not sure that counts as a milestone...but we don't want to forget it!) And, you are talking like it's nobody's business. You are going to be our little social butterfly for sure! You have also found your fingers and fists and try to shove both in your mouth at the same time. You first did it Christmas morning at mass (which you were excellent for, despite the hundreds of people in the church with us with babies screaming).
"Caelisms": Smiling after tooting. Grinning huge and almost laughing. Cooing to wake up in the morning, which is a heck of a lot better than crying or screaming! Ticklish tootsies...which Grandma Dolinski and Grandpa Gilbert caught onto really quick! You still get the hiccups at least once a day, everyday...and you are starting to hate them!
