This morning we had our 37 week appointment, and it was fabulous! I am 37 weeks, 2 days. We are getting so close, I'm anxious as ever! Luckily, I have all good things to report:
Blood pressure: 118/72 (Perfect! It pays to go BEFORE the work day starts!)
Weight gain: Um...loss! 2 pounds down since Thursday!
Group B Strep: Negative
Ear infection: Positive. Unfortunately, I haven't been sleeping at all because my ear just throbs all night, and gets worse in the morning. I had suspected it might just be allergies, but I wanted her to check, and what do you know...stupid inner-ear infection.
Measurement: 39 weeks (back up after leveling out to be right on par...he's back to measuring two weeks ahead of the game again)
Dilation: 3-4 cm (woo hooo!!!)
Effacement: 80% and rising
Presentation: Possibly still face up, but the only way to find out would have ruptured my water, so that wasn't happening this morning. He is fully settled in now though, getting comfy in the birth canal.
So basically, it could be any day, or two weeks from now. The waiting game is so fun (not!). We finished the appointment with a flu shot, prescription for the ear, and a full copy of my medical records. Then, she talked about the mid-wife on-call schedule that the office just implemented. For whatever reason (I'm not trying to be hopeful or anything) she decided to warn me that this weekend the nurse-midwife is one that I have not met yet because she is new to the practice. I asked her if this meant that she predicts me to deliver this weekend, and she didn't rule it out, just sweetly said "I think I will see you next Tuesday at your appointment for 38 weeks...but just in case." She gave me a big squeeze (further making me think this boy is coming soon...because it was almost like a "good luck" hug) and I was on my way. Now...back to work until this boy decides to make his debut.
