February 28, 2012 started out like any other morning. My husband and I started out the morning like we always do. He got ready for work, and come in to wake me up/kiss me goodbye. I reminded him in my sleepy stumper (since I didn't sleep well at all) that it was Leap Day. He grinned and said "it would stink to be born on this day, only having a birthday to celebrate every four years."
Since there was no getting out of bed yet to get ready for work, I checked my e-mails on my blackberry. Mom wrote me a sweet note wishing me a lucky leap day. For whatever reason, I decided to follow my gut intuition and take a test before I got in the shower. My world turned around after that ridiculously long three minute wait to see....."Pregnant"!
I COMPLETELY freaked out. Pacing around the house, room to room, trying everything not to call someone to spurt out the news...Daniel, my mom, my sisters, anyone! No, I had to keep this a secret and process it myself first, then tell Daniel in person that night. I knew my body had been so strange the past month, but just a week prior (when I purchased the box of tests, along with a bottle of red to celebrate a negative response) everything was fine.
Most people who know us, and that we have talked to about expanding our family, know that we PLANNED this out perfectly. I had just been to the doctor on February 3rd to discuss the steps necessary to get my body "right" so we could start trying in late summer...since Daniel is a teacher, a May delivery would be perfect timing. HA!
Moral of this story...."You plan, God laughs."
